Although the Netherlands is a small country with small cities it does house some great national parks. The largest national park is the Hoge Veluwe National Park in the province of Gelderland and it combines great nature and landscape with beautiful art and architecture. The park covers an area of 55 square kilometers and most of its landscape was created during the last Ice Age.
The landscape is a mix of sand dunes, heath lands and forest. Some of the residents of the park are deer and wild pigs and if you're into bird watching this is a great place to spot a lot of species. You can do several hikes at National Park Hoge Veluwe.
After enjoying the wonderful nature at the park you can visit the "Kröller-Müller Museum" which houses an impressive art collection with works by Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian, Vincent van Gogh and many others.
If you want to visit a museum that focuses on the biology and geology of the area you should visit "Museonder".
